Site Engineer - Local Authority Highways Improvement Scheme - Farrington Gurney, Somerset
-350 per day | CIS Umbrella | Initial 4-Month Contract with Strong Scope for Extension
Our client, a Tier 1 contractor, is seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join the team delivering a local county highways improvement scheme in Farrington Gurney, within the Bath & North East Somerset region.
This is a great opportunity to join a Tier 1 contractor with a confirmed pipeline of 5 further schemes across the Bath/Somerset region next year, offering genuine long-term security well beyond the initial contract.
The Role

• Managing all engineering activities including engineering control, setting out, and providing direction to the workforce
• Leading quality control systems to ensure compliance with project design and specifications
• Assisting and managing the permit process, including CAT scanning and issuing permits
• Keeping accurate records including site diary, records of works activities, resource allocations, and as-built information using AutoCAD
• Surveying kerb lines and supporting highways construction, surfacing, and minor earthworks activities
• Ensuring the highest possible Health, Safety & Environmental standards are employed across all projects, adhering to company policy and actively supporting a strong safety-first culture that''s integral to the client''s working environment

What You''ll Need

• Good level of experience in civil engineering and workforce supervision, including earthworks, drainage, structures, and highways
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, QA processes, and site diary/record-keeping
• Experience surveying kerb lines and supporting surfacing works
• Ability to remain flexible in your approach, embracing and helping to drive change
• Highly organised, able to juggle priorities and multi-task across multiple stakeholders while staying focused on what matters most
• Ambitious, with a constant focus on improving performance and making the best of every situation
