Site Engineer

We''re looking for an experienced Site Engineer / Site Manager to join a major road widening and highways improvement scheme in the heart of Bath. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role on a high-profile infrastructure project for a well-established civil engineering contractor.

You''ll be responsible for the day-to-day management of site activities, ensuring the works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards. Depending on your background, the role will suit either a hands-on Site Engineer ready to take on more responsibility or an experienced Site Manager with a strong engineering understanding.

Key Responsibilities:

• Managing and coordinating daily site operations.
• Setting out and overseeing road widening, drainage, kerbing and highways works.
• Supervising subcontractors and direct labour.
• Ensuring works are completed in line with programme, specifications and quality standards.
• Maintaining site records, QA documentation and as-built information.
• Carrying out site inspections and ensuring full compliance with health & safety legislation.
• Liaising with the client, engineers and project management team.
• Identifying and resolving technical and operational issues.

Requirements:

• Proven experience delivering highways, road widening, earthworks or civil engineering projects.
• Strong setting out experience using Total Stations and GPS (for Site Engineer applicants).
• Previous site management experience on civil engineering projects (for Site Manager applicants).
• Excellent knowledge of health & safety and quality procedures.
• Ability to manage programmes, subcontractors and site resources effectively.
• CSCS Card essential.
• SMSTS preferred (essential for Site Manager applicants).
• First Aid at Work desirable.
• HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline preferred.
