A leading civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Site Agent to join their team on a major highways project near Newton Abbot.

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Site Agent will be responsible for the on-site management of a 1.5km section of carriageway and the construction of a new roundabout. The roundabout is required to be raised in level by some 3.5m, involving a large cut and fill operation. Carriagway works involve major service diversions, drainage, earthworks and surfacing.

Working with a team to include a Sub Agent, 2 engineers, overall works foreman and sub contactors.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily site operations to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards
• Develop construction programmes, method statements, and phasing plans
• Lead and coordinate subcontractors, labour, and plant requirements
• Support the commercial team with cost reporting and compensation events
• Maintain accurate records, including site diaries and quality documentation
• Act as a key point of contact for project stakeholders and local representatives

Ideally candidates will have proven experience managing highways or infrastructure schemes and a strong track record in health, safety, and environmental management.
