Site Agent

We are currently seeking an experienced Freelance Sub Agent / Site Agent to join a major civil engineering project based in the South East of England. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a leading contractor delivering a long-term highways infrastructure and maintenance programme.

The Role

As Sub Agent / Site Agent, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of works across a live highways environment. You will be responsible for managing site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Oversee day-to-day site activities on a major civil engineering contract
- Manage subcontractors, site engineers, and direct labour
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards
- Coordinate works related to highways maintenance, including traffic management and public interface
- Supervise and deliver drainage works (installation, repair, and maintenance)
- Manage concrete repair activities, including structural and surface-level remediation
- Monitor progress against programme and report to senior management
- Maintain accurate site records, RAMS, and quality documentation
- Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and local authorities

Requirements

- Proven experience in a Sub Agent or Site Agent role within civil engineering
- Strong background in highways maintenance, drainage, and concrete repairs
- SMSTS (or equivalent)
- CSCS card (relevant level)
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams in a live environment
- Experience working on major infrastructure or framework contracts preferred
