Carmichael UK is recruiting for an experienced Agent to join a major infrastructure project in Plymouth. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a high-profile civil engineering scheme, taking responsibility for the safe and efficient delivery of project activities while coordinating site teams, subcontractors, and key stakeholders.

We are looking for a proactive construction professional with strong leadership skills, a sound understanding of contracts and project delivery, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties will include:

• Acting as the primary point of contact for subcontractors, suppliers, and client representatives on site.
• Supporting the administration and management of subcontractor agreements and purchase orders.  
• Monitoring progress and ensuring works are delivered in accordance with programme requirements and project specifications.
• Coordinating site logistics, inspections, deliveries, and construction activities.
• Preparing project reports, documentation, and correspondence relating to progress and contractual matters.
• Working closely with Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors, Engineers, and site teams to resolve operational and commercial issues.
• Assisting with claims, dispute resolution, and risk management activities where required.
• Ensuring compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Supporting project cost control and programme management activities.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

• A relevant qualification such as an NVQ Level 3, HNC, Degree, or equivalent in a construction-related discipline.
• SSSTS or SMSTS certification.
• Proven experience within civil engineering, construction delivery, site management, or project coordination environments.
• A strong understanding of construction contracts, project controls, and site operations.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to work effectively under pressure and meet project deadlines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management systems.
• Professional membership or progression towards chartership with ICE, IStructE or a similar institution would be advantageous.
