Be a proficient practitioner in Cardiothoracic Theatres, acting as a professional role model and clinical teacher.Provide effective mentorship and supervision, participating in the education and training of nursing and non-nursing staff.Ensure safe, efficient, timely, individualised patient care in line with local and national targets.Lead and develop the cardiac surgical programme within the new 10 theatre complex, spanning cardiac, thoracic, robotic and thoracoabdominal aneurysm surgery and complex electrophysiology cases.Support leadership development, mentorship, and reinforcement of safe practice within a large theatre setting.Experience and qualifications
EssentialRegistered nurse.Recognised postgraduate theatre course.Mentorship course or equivalent.Evidence of leadership training or development.Experience at band 5 Thoracic theatre scrub and supervising non-registered staff.Ability to mentor pre-registration and post-basic students; ability to supervise and manage the clinical area effectively.Excellent communication skills; ability to convey sensitive information empathetically to patients, relatives/carers and staff.DesirableContinuing professional development/education evidence.Further leadership courses or completed programmes.Able to work within set timeframes with good prioritising skills and effective resource use.Other requirements
