Sign Designer / Print Production Specialist
Location: Weston-super-Mare, Somerset
Salary: £31,500–£35,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent
Working Hours: Monday to Friday
Are you an experienced sign-making or print professional looking for your next challenge? Do you enjoy combining creative design skills with hands-on production work?
We're recruiting for a Sign Designer / Print Production Specialist to join an established sign manufacturing business based in Weston-super-Mare.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in signage, digital printing and artwork preparation who enjoys seeing projects through from the initial customer enquiry to the finished product.
Offering a salary of £31,500–£35,000 per annum and a permanent position, this varied role is ideal for a skilled professional who takes pride in producing high-quality work and enjoys working across both design and practical production.
What's on Offer?

  • Competitive salary: £31,500–£35,000 per annum, depending on experience.
  • Permanent position: A long-term opportunity, subject to successful completion of a probationary period.
  • Early Friday finish: Finish at 3:30pm every Friday.
  • Consistent weekday hours: Monday to Friday working pattern.
  • A varied role: Combine creative design, digital printing, sign manufacturing and customer interaction.
  • Take ownership: Manage a variety of projects from initial enquiry through to completion.
  • Immediate opportunity: An ASAP start is available.
The Role
No two days will be exactly the same. You'll play an important role in ensuring customer projects are designed, produced and completed to a high standard.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Speaking with customers to understand their requirements and recommend suitable signage and print solutions.
  • Preparing quotations, calculating job costs and pricing work accurately.
  • Creating and adapting artwork using Adobe Illustrator and other relevant design software.
  • Preparing print-ready artwork for production, ensuring files are accurate and suitable for manufacture.
  • Operating large-format digital printers and associated print equipment.
  • Producing, manufacturing and finishing a range of signs and printed products.
  • Selecting appropriate materials, substrates and finishes for individual jobs.
  • Carrying out print finishing and general sign-making duties as required.
  • Checking completed work for quality, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Managing multiple projects and ensuring work is completed within agreed deadlines.
  • Working collaboratively with the team while using your own initiative to keep jobs moving efficiently.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone with genuine experience in the sign manufacturing industry who understands the practical processes involved in producing high-quality signage.
You'll ideally have:
  • Previous experience in the sign manufacturing industry — essential.
  • Practical experience operating large-format digital printers.
  • Knowledge of print-finishing processes and sign production equipment.
  • Experience preparing artwork for print and manufacture.
  • Good working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and/or other relevant design software.
  • An understanding of signage materials, substrates, finishes and production methods.
  • Experience preparing quotations or pricing print and signage jobs.
  • Confident communication skills and the ability to understand customer requirements.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage several jobs at once.
  • The ability to work independently, use your own initiative and contribute effectively as part of a small team.
A full UK driving licence and access to your own reliable transport are essential due to the rural location of the premises.
Who Would Suit This Role?
This opportunity would suit an experienced sign maker, sign production specialist or large-format print professional who enjoys a mixture of creative and practical work.
Perhaps you're currently working in a sign shop, producing vehicle graphics, commercial signage, display graphics or other printed products. You might already be involved in artwork preparation and print production and be ready to take on greater responsibility for customer enquiries, quotations and managing jobs through to completion.
What matters most is that you understand the sign manufacturing process, are comfortable working hands-on and take pride in producing excellent results.
This isn't a purely graphic design position. You'll need practical sign industry experience and the confidence to get involved in production as well as design.
Ready for Your Next Move?
If you're an experienced sign industry professional looking for a varied permanent position with a competitive salary and an early Friday finish, we'd love to hear from you.
Apply today with your CV, outlining your relevant sign-making, design and print production experience.
Location: Weston-super-Mare, Somerset
Salary: £31,500–£35,000 per annum
Working Hours: Monday to Thursday, 8:00am–4:45pm; Friday, 8:15am–3:30pm
