About the Role
Shunters Days is a full-time HGV shunter driver role based in Derbyshire at East Midlands Gateway. Working a 4 on / 4 off shift pattern, the successful candidate will safely move and position trailers around the site, including designated areas and loading bays, supporting smooth yard operations. Daily duties include vehicle and trailer safety inspections, strict adherence to site health and safety procedures, and close liaison with transport and warehouse colleagues. Applicants must hold a relevant HGV licence and demonstrate competence in manoeuvring large vehicles. The position offers an hourly rate of £16.38, with a starting rate of £16.00, on a full-time contract.

We are currently recruiting for HGV Shunter Drivers to join our team at East Midlands Gateway on a fantastic 4 on / 4 off shift pattern, paying £16.38 per hour.
The Role
As a Shunter Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trailers around the site, ensuring vehicles are positioned correctly and yard operations run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely shunt trailers around the East Midlands Gateway site
- Move and position trailers in designated areas and loading bays
- Carry out daily vehicle and trailer safety checks
- Follow all site health & safety procedures
- Work closely with the transport and warehouse teams
- Maintain a safe and organised yard environment
- Complete required paperwork and vehicle checks
- Adhere to company and site procedures at all times
- Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence
- Previous shunting experience preferred
- Good understanding of HGV and yard safety
- Reliable, punctual and professional
- Good communication skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Safety-conscious attitude
- £16.38 per hour
