Shunter Driver Leader Location: Mirfield Department: Transport Reporting to: Logistics Manager Hours: Varies, shift based days and nights available About the Role We are looking for an experienced and motivated Shunter Driver Leader to join our Transport team. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will be responsible for coordinating all on-site shunting activities, leading the shunter team and ensuring trailers are positioned efficiently to support warehouse and production operations. You''ll spend time both in the transport office and out on site, ensuring operations run smoothly, communicating with multiple departments and responding quickly to changing priorities. Key Responsibilities As Shunter Driver Leader, you will: Lead and coordinate the daily activities of the shunter team. Plan and prioritise trailer movements across the site. Ensure trailers are positioned in the right place at the right time to support warehouse and production operations. Maintain sufficient availability of empty trailers. Keep trailer tracking systems updated to provide accurate, real-time information. Monitor trailer locations and maintain accurate site records. Complete detailed shift handovers to ensure continuity between shifts. Allocate and rotate shunting vehicles while maintaining fleet availability.
