Shovel Driver Location: OL2 (Oldham) Pay: £14.00 £16.00 per hour (depending on experience) Hours: Monday Friday, 7:00am 5:00pm + 1 in 3 Saturdays Job Type: Full-time, Permanent The Role We are looking to recruit an experienced Shovel Driver to join our team at our Oldham depot. This is a hands-on role with supervisory responsibilities, overseeing yard operations while ensuring all machinery and vehicles are operated safely and efficiently. Key Responsibilities Maintain and promote a safe working environment in full compliance with health and safety regulations. Conduct daily visual and operational checks on plant and machinery, reporting defects promptly. Oversee safe and correct loading of vehicles (including tippers and articulated vehicles). Ensure adherence to environmental, health and safety policies and site permits. Maintain a clean, organised, and hazard-free yard environment. Plan and coordinate workloads to maximise operational efficiency. Communicate effectively with drivers, yard operatives, and management. Promote best practices to maintain high operational and safety standards. Ensure all pre-use and routine machine checks are completed and recorded. Supervise yard staff, ensuring tasks are completed safely and efficiently. Manage booking and dispatch of outbound materials with accurate documentation.
