Shift Team Leader

Astute''s Power Team is partnering with an energy organisation operating a power plant in Lancing, West Sussex, to recruit a Shift Team Leader for its Lancing site.

Responsibilities and duties of the Shift Team Leader role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will:

• 
  Take responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the power plant and site, including responding to equipment breakdowns.
• 
  Carry out plant inspections, adjustments and readings, maintaining accurate records to ensure compliance with the Environmental Permit.
• 
  Supervise contractors, review RAMS and ensure work is completed in accordance with relevant processes and legislation.
• 
  Operate and monitor plant equipment using DCS/SCADA systems, including turbines, boilers, pumps and conveyors, responding promptly to warnings and alarms.
• 
  Conduct planned preventative maintenance inspections.
• 
  Ensure the plant operates within its parameters while complying with Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
• 
  Support planned and unplanned outages and identify opportunities to improve plant efficiency and availability.
• 
  Ensure appropriate PPE and safe working practices are followed by staff and contractors.
• 
  Train less senior staff and contribute to the writing and review of procedures and Risk Assessments.
• 
  Monitor plant performance and investigate and resolve issues where optimum performance is not being achieved.
• 
  Monitor stock levels, request re-orders and manage the receipt and storage of goods and equipment.
• 
  Monitor APC Residue quantities and arrange collections and associated consignment notes.
• 
  Monitor staff timekeeping and ensure staff remain engaged and productive.
• 
  Carry out regular site inspections, identifying defects and raising or completing maintenance requirements.
• 
  Complete shift handovers and remain aware of faults, issues and changes arising during off periods.
• 
  Undertake activities including QAL 3 checks, daily sample preparation, noise monitoring and vibration analysis.
• 
  Take responsibility for site keys, two-way radios and the shift mobile phone.

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

• 
  Experience relevant to the safe and efficient operation of a power plant/site.
• 
  Experience operating and monitoring plant equipment and responding to equipment warnings, alarms and breakdowns.
• 
  Experience with DCS/SCADA systems.
• 
  Experience of planned preventative maintenance and plant inspections.
• 
  Experience supervising contractors and reviewing RAMS.
• 
  An understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental requirements and Environmental Permit compliance.
• 
  Experience with Permits to Work and lockout procedures.
• 
  Experience of completing or contributing to procedures and Risk Assessments.
• 
  Appropriate training to undertake First Aider and Fire Warden responsibilities will be provided.

Salary and benefits of the Shift Team Leader role

• A salary of -67,521 per annum
• Annual personal performance review bonus up to -4,000
• Quarterly group performance bonus up to -600 every 3 months
• Shift pattern of 2 days on, 2 nights on, 4 days off. These run from 7-7 as 12 hour shifts.
