Engineering Team Leader / Assistant Engineering Manager – Nights

Salary: Up to £65,000 DOE
Location: Evesham, Worcestershire

Orion Electrotech are working with a leading manufacturing business who are looking for an ambitious engineering professional ready to take the next step in their career.

This opportunity is ideal for a Senior Engineer, Lead Engineer or Engineering Team Leader looking to progress into an Engineering Manager position whilst remaining heavily involved on the tools.

This is a 60% hands-on / 40% management role, where you''ll continue to utilise your maintenance and fault-finding expertise while developing your leadership skills and taking responsibility for managing a team of engineers on shift.

As part of the role, the business will also support you through a Level 5 Management Qualification, providing a clear pathway towards a fully-fledged Engineering Manager position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the engineering team during night shifts.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Provide hands-on support during breakdowns and fault-finding activities.
  • Coordinate engineering workloads and ensure maintenance tasks are completed efficiently.
  • Work closely with Production, Operations and Quality teams to minimise downtime.
  • Support continuous improvement projects to increase equipment reliability and plant efficiency.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out safely and in line with company procedures.
  • Assist with performance management, training and development of engineers on shift.
  • Ensure equipment is production-ready and operating at maximum efficiency.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven maintenance engineering experience within Food Manufacturing, FMCG, Manufacturing or Aerospace environments.
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical maintenance background.
  • Previous experience leading or mentoring engineers.
  • Hands-on approach with excellent fault-finding skills.
  • Passion for developing into a management position.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
