Shift Engineer

To ensure all environmental conditions are maintained at all times with regard to critical building systems. To carry out PPM tasks and reactive and breakdown works to all M&E systems within the site. Engineers must be able to demonstrate relevant knowledge of air conditioning, UPS, generators, and LV systems, including the ability to fault find using graphical information and current alarm data.

Ensure that routine PPM is carried out on all mechanical and electrical plant in accordance with site task schedules and asset lists.

Ensure that reactive tasks throughout the building are completed efficiently and proactively identify areas for potential improvement. Reactive calls may include concessionary stores and fabric-related issues.

Ensure that subcontractors perform to meet the requirements of the contract. Oversee subcontractor work approvals and ensure safe operations during repair or servicing on site.

Operate a Permit to Work system in accordance with established quality, health & safety procedures and client requirements.

Ensure plant faults and defects are swiftly remedied to maintain systems in a serviceable condition at all times.

Ensure that suitable spares are available to carry out maintenance and reactive works. Provide parts lists and estimated timescales for remedial actions.

Ensure all relevant paperwork related to reactive and breakdown works is completed and promptly submitted to the appropriate contract administrator.

Ensure that method statements and risk assessments are prepared and used for all tasks to maintain safe working practices at all times.

Develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, subcontractors, and client representatives. Promote a safe and healthy working environment, including proper use of uniform and PPE at all times.

Maintain a professional image when interacting with clients.

Ensure all plant rooms are kept locked, clean, and tidy at all times.

Supervise and monitor subcontractors while they are on-site undertaking maintenance tasks.

Ensure assigned tasks are actioned and completed as appropriate.

Complete all tasks with appropriate awareness and implementation of health & safety requirements.

Maintain awareness of and compliance with contractual KPIs and SLAs.

Ensure the Computer-Based Maintenance System is kept up to date and that PPM and reactive tickets are accurately closed out with proper data recorded.

Operate a Permit to Work system in accordance with health & safety procedures and client protocols (or approved client systems).

Perform any other duties as directed by the site management team.

Ensure the engineering team produces near-miss reports, dynamic risk assessments, and detailed records of site activities, and that any non-compliance is challenged and escalated where necessary.

Proactively monitor the Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) system in accordance with health & safety procedures and client requirements.

Use the BMS (Building Management System) to oversee and maintain acceptable internal environmental conditions within the building.
