With an expanding portfolio and a people-first culture, they are seeking a SHEQ Manager to strengthen their operations team and ensure safety, quality, and compliance standards remain industry leading.



Your new role

Our client is seeking an experienced SHEQ Manager to take ownership of health, safety, environmental, and quality compliance across approximately 25 live sites. You will manage a team of around 30 operational staff, ensuring best practice is embedded throughout all levels of the business. Based out of their Altrincham office with regular site visits, this role requires a hands-on leader who can influence, guide, and drive continuous improvement across the organisation.



Responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing all SHEQ functions across approximately 25 live projects and multiple operational teams

  • Leading and developing a team of 30 SHEQ and site-based staff to deliver high standards of compliance and best practice

  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring SHEQ policies, procedures, and management systems

  • Carrying out audits, inspections, and risk assessments across sites, ensuring adherence to legislative and company requirements

  • Ensuring compliance with ISO standards and leading certification processes

  • Reporting SHEQ performance to senior management and providing actionable insights

  • Driving a proactive safety culture and engaging with staff at all levels to promote continuous improvement

  • Investigating incidents, producing detailed reports, and implementing corrective actions

  • Liaising with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies on all SHEQ matters



What you will need to succeed:

  • Proven experience in a SHEQ Manager or similar leadership role within construction, fit-out, or a related sector

  • Strong knowledge of UK health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations and standards

  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) is essential

  • Experience managing multiple sites and teams simultaneously

  • Familiarity with ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001) and auditing processes

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and influencing skills

  • Ability to build positive relationships across all levels of staff and clients

  • A proactive, solutions-driven mindset with the ability to drive cultural change
