Sheq Advisor

SHEQ Advisor based in Leeds, Cardiff or Kettering.

The Opportunity

A growing infrastructure and utilities contractor is looking to appoint a SHEQ Advisor to support projects across its UK operations.

This role would suit a motivated and personable SHEQ professional with experience within utilities, civil engineering or infrastructure environments who is looking to further develop their career within a supportive, family-oriented business.

Working closely with operational teams, you will play a key role in promoting a positive safety culture, conducting site inspections and audits, supporting compliance activities and coaching teams on best practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct site inspections, audits and workplace assessments across active projects.

• Monitor compliance with company procedures, client requirements and legislation.

• Support the delivery of a positive health and safety culture across the business.

• Provide practical SHEQ advice and guidance to operational teams.

• Inspect temporary works, excavations, traffic management and general construction activities.

• Produce audit reports, improvement plans and lessons learned documentation.

• Deliver toolbox talks and safety briefings.

• Support incident investigations and corrective actions.

• Assist with risk assessments and method statement reviews.

Requirements

• NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum requirement).

• Tech IOSH membership or working towards.

• 2-5 years'' SHEQ, Health & Safety or Compliance experience.

• Previous experience within utilities, infrastructure, civil engineering, water, power, gas, ICP or DNO environments.

• Good understanding of CDM Regulations.

• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

• Comfortable working independently and managing your own workload.

• Full UK Driving Licence.

• Right to work in the UK.

• UK construction or utilities experience.

Desirable

• NEBOSH Fire Certificate.

• Fire safety experience.

• Experience delivering toolbox talks or training sessions.

• Level 3 Award in Education and Training (or similar).

• Temporary Works knowledge.

• Utilities network experience within water, power, gas, ICP or DNO projects.

Working Pattern

• Office based from either Kettering, Leeds or Cardiff (Pontypridd).

• Candidates should ideally live within approximately 30 minutes of one of the offices.

• Significant site travel required.

• Mileage paid at 45p per mile.

• Flexibility and hybrid working opportunities may be available following successful onboarding and development.
