About the Role

This full-time Sheet Metal Engineer role in Avonmouth involves producing accurate components within a small CNC Punch, Bend and Fitting team for a Bristol manufacturer serving aerospace, defence and nuclear sectors. Working 37.5 hours weekly, Monday to Friday, the successful candidate will interpret engineering drawings and set up Amada Acute turret presses, HFE100-3 and HF50/12 press-brakes, plus a Hare 80T press and manual Pierce-All machine. Bench hand fitting duties also feature. Applicants need proven sheet metal fabrication experience, competence with CNC machinery and the ability to read technical specifications precisely. Pay is £16.50 hourly.

Is a well-established Bristol based manufacturing firm which produces high quality, sheet metal & precision engineered products predominantly for the Aerospace, Defence and Nuclear industries.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Working primarily in the CNC Punching, Bending and Fitting department as part of a small team, producing accurate sheet metal parts.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Read & interpret engineering drawings.
Set-up and operate Amada Acute CNC Turret Press.
Set-up and operate Amada Press-brakes (HFE100-3 & HF50/12).
Set-up and operate Hare 80T Press.*
Set-up and operate manual Pierce-All punching machine.
General hand fitting bench work, working with jigs & fixtures.
Liaising with the Engineering Manager and the Production Planner to meet company targets.

The ideal person will have

A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
Ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings.
GCSE Maths & English - Grade C (or equivalent) A working knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing techniques.
Experience of setting and operating an Amada Press brake or similar bending machine tool. Experience of setting and operating an 80T Hare press or Pierce All or similar press machine. Experience of setting and operating an Amada turret press or similar punching machine tool.
Experience in off-line programming for both the Turret press and Press brake. (Radan or similar)
Ability to re-set parts (after heat-treatment for example).
Ability to check own work prior to independent inspection.
Flexibility to be able to be useful, where required anywhere within the company.
Suitable skills with Microsoft Word/Excel to assist with the creation of job setup sheets.

Rate: £16.50 per hour (depending on skills, capability and experience)
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Mon to Thurs = 7.15 to 16.00, Fri = 7.15 to 12.00.
