About the Role

This role combines Service Management and Scrum Master duties for a Sheffield-based Higher Education platform on a 6-month temporary contract paying £500 per day (Inside IR35). The hybrid position splits responsibilities equally between operational service delivery and agile leadership. You will oversee daily IT application operations, managing incidents, problems, changes, and service performance while maintaining ITIL compliance. On the Scrum side, you will facilitate ceremonies, remove blockers, coach teams on Agile practices, and support backlog refinement. Coordinating with technical teams, vendors, and stakeholders is essential. Strong ITIL knowledge and Scrum expertise are required for this balanced position.

We’re hiring a Service Manager / Scrum Master to support a HE platform, working across key application workstreams.
This is a 50/50 split between Service Management and Scrum Master responsibilities, ideal for someone who can combine operational service delivery with agile leadership and deliver change.
What you’ll do:
- Oversee day-to-day IT application service operations
- Manage incidents, problems, changes, and service performance
- Maintain reporting and ensure ITIL compliance
- Coordinate with technical teams, vendors, and stakeholders
- Facilitate Scrum ceremonies and remove delivery blockers
- Coach teams on Agile best practice
- Support backlog refinement and future sprint planning
What we’re looking for:
- Strong ITSM / Service Delivery background
- Solid experience with ITIL processes
- Proven Scrum Master experience
- Strong stakeholder management skills
- Strong JIRA
- Higher Education / SITS experience is a bonus
