Job Title: Service Engineer
Location: Bedfordshire
Salary: £45,000 DOE (Estimated OTE £55,000 )
Hours:

  • Monday to Thursday: 08:00 – 17:00 (½ hour lunch)
  • Friday: 08:00 – 13:00 (½ hour lunch)
    Overtime may be required for travel to/from customer sites.
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Service Engineer to join our technical team. This role involves installing and servicing machinery, responding to breakdowns, and supporting customers with spare parts and technical queries. You’ll be working on-site, remotely, and occasionally supporting production line integrations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct site visits for installation, commissioning, training, upgrades, breakdowns, and fault finding.
  • Write, debug, and commission software onsite for production line integrations.
  • Provide remote diagnostics and support for machine breakdowns and upgrades.
  • Offer telephone and email support for machinery issues.
  • Log service, spares, and installation activities and keep records updated.
  • Liaise with internal teams to ensure customer support and spares requests are processed efficiently.
  • Assist with technical documentation, including test plans and validation documents.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve build and design challenges.
Skills & Experience Required:
Essential:
  • Qualification in Electronic, Electrical, or Control Engineering (e.g., BTEC, HNC)
  • Mechanical/Electrical engineering background with experience in servicing machinery
  • Electrical certification for working with 3-phase installations
  • 3 years of fault finding and servicing machinery
  • Basic programming experience with Siemens/Allen Bradley software
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to implement reliable solutions
  • Competent in MS Office and able to work effectively in a team
  • Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas
Desirable:
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Chartered status (or working towards it)
  • Experience installing or commissioning packaging machinery or production lines
  • Experience in line validation and producing validation documentation
  • Ability to recommend product improvements based on hands-on experience
Personal Attributes:
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to work independently and meet deadlines
  • UK driving licence
