SEN / SEMH Teaching AssistantLocation: Chorley Salary: 90 - 100 per day Hours: Full-time About the RoleWe are seeking a SEN / SEMH Teaching Assistant to support secondary-aged pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.The role involves working with students following different learning pathways, including GCSE subjects and Functional Skills, supporting both academic progress and emotional regulation.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN/SEMH needsSupport students working towards GCSEs and Functional Skills qualificationsAssist pupils to access learning, manage emotions, and engage positively in lessonsSupport behaviour regulation using trauma-informed and restorative approachesWork closely with teachers to adapt learning materials and strategiesHelp implement EHCP targets, behaviour plans, and individual support plansBuild positive, trusting relationships with pupils to promote confidence and resilienceSupport pupils during transitions, breaks, and unstructured times where neededLiaise with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals as requiredThe Ideal Candidate Will HaveExperience working with children or young people with SEN and/or SEMH needsAn understanding of the challenges faced by pupils with emotional and behavioural needsA calm, patient, and consistent approachStrong communication and teamwork skillsThe ability to remain resilient in a challenging but rewarding ..... full job details .....
