Senior / Principal Electrical Engineer

London | Hybrid Working

If you''re looking for a role where your technical expertise is valued, your ideas are heard, and you''ll have a genuine opportunity to influence the direction of a growing consultancy, this could be the opportunity for you.

We''re partnering with an ambitious, independent building services consultancy that is redefining what a modern engineering consultancy can look like. Working across the commercial property sector, they provide expert MEP engineering, technical due diligence, refurbishment, decarbonisation and advisory services to developers, investors, asset managers and occupiers.

Unlike many traditional consultancies, innovation sits at the heart of the business. Alongside delivering technically outstanding engineering solutions, they''re investing heavily in the future of the industry by developing their own AI platform specifically for the built environment. Designed to improve project delivery, enhance technical workflows and unlock greater value for clients, it''s a major investment in the future of engineering and a reflection of the company''s progressive approach.

Why Join?

This is a business that''s growing-but doing so with purpose.

The team currently consists of nine engineers, with plans to grow organically to around 15 engineers by Q2 2027 and approximately 25 by the end of 2028.

Rather than chasing rapid expansion, the focus is on sustainable growth, ensuring the consultancy continues to deliver the qualities that have built its reputation:

  • Exceptional technical quality.
  • Close collaboration across every project.
  • A genuinely positive and enjoyable team culture.

The business has been deliberately built to remain lean. Specialist expertise is supplemented by a trusted network of affiliated partners where required, allowing the consultancy to stay agile, maintain consistently high technical standards and deliver complex projects without unnecessary management layers or bureaucracy.

One of the biggest advantages is the level of exposure you''ll receive. Engineers work directly alongside Directors and senior leaders from day one, giving you the opportunity to influence technical decisions, build client relationships and gain commercial experience that is often difficult to achieve within larger multidisciplinary consultancies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of electrical building services projects.
  • Produce and review electrical calculations, specifications, reports and technical documentation.
  • Provide technical leadership across project teams and ensure engineering excellence.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and external stakeholders.
  • Attend and lead client, design team and project meetings.
  • Carry out site inspections and provide construction-stage support.
  • Coordinate designs with mechanical engineers and external consultants.
  • Mentor and support the development of junior engineers.
  • Contribute to quality assurance, technical innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Support business development and help strengthen existing client relationships.

About You

You''ll be an experienced Electrical Building Services Engineer who enjoys taking ownership, solving complex engineering challenges and working closely with both clients and colleagues.

You''ll ideally have:

  • Strong experience within a building services consultancy.
  • A proven track record delivering electrical building services projects across the commercial sector.
  • Excellent technical design knowledge and familiarity with relevant UK standards and regulations.
  • Experience using industry-standard design software.
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills.
  • A degree in Electrical or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng), or be actively working towards chartership.

What''s on Offer

  • A genuine opportunity to influence the growth of an ambitious consultancy.
  • Direct access to Directors with real responsibility from day one.
  • The chance to work within a business developing proprietary AI technology for the built environment, helping shape the future of engineering delivery.
  • Exposure to technically challenging commercial projects.
  • A collaborative, supportive and highly experienced team.
  • Clear career progression with the opportunity to help shape the business as it grows.
  • Hybrid working.
  • Competitive salary and benefits.
