We are seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated Senior Engineer to join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of vehicle efficiency.
Role Overview:
Working within an Agile operating model, the Senior Vehicle Efficiency Engineer will be responsible for the strategic target setting and governance of the Vehicle Efficiency attribute. This role requires a deep technical understanding of vehicle energy consumption, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to influence technology roadmaps to meet stringent legislative and customer demands.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conduct strategic target setting for the Vehicle Efficiency attribute, including competitive benchmarking, legislative requirement analysis, and real-world customer data assessment.
• Coordinate and contribute to virtual verification and data analysis activities for the Vehicle Efficiency attribute.
• Conduct target compatibility assessments and negotiate between vehicle-level efficiency targets and individual energy node owners (e.g., road load, propulsion, electrical loads).
• Collaborate with energy node owners to influence and define strategic technology roadmaps that align with efficiency targets and market trends.
• Support robust attribute governance throughout vehicle programmes, identifying risks and opportunities and making clear recommendations for resolution.
• Ensure the robust administration and distribution of Vehicle Efficiency attribute data and assumptions to all relevant business stakeholders.
• Collaborate with tools and methods teams to define development requirements aligned with programme objectives.
• Undertake any other duties as directed by the line manager.
Essential Skills and Experience:
• Educated to Degree level in Mechanical, Automotive, or Systems Engineering. • A strong technical engineering background with a proven, methodical approach to problem-solving.
• Significant experience in vehicle attribute and/or vehicle system delivery within an automotive environment.
• Detailed knowledge of vehicle efficiency legislative homologation and certification methods and processes.
• Strong technical understanding of how vehicle energy nodes impact overall vehicle efficiency and driving range.
• Excellent presentation skills, with the ability to use data visualisation to articulate complex risks and opportunities clearly.
• Strong communication skills, with a proven ability to simplify and explain complex technical subjects.
• Self-motivated and independent, capable of delivering value autonomously within an Agile framework.
• Well-organised and diligent, with a strong focus on technical administration.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
• Knowledge and/or experience of working with Agile operating principles.
• Experience with component/rig testing methodologies related to vehicle efficiency.
• Experience with Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) testing methodologies related to vehicle efficiency.
