Senior Transport Officer

Working Pattern: Hybrid - onsite in LE3 once every two weeksStart Date: ASAPWe are currently recruiting for a Senior Transport Officer to support the delivery of home-to-school transport services for children and young people, including those with SEND and other vulnerable pupils.This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy local authority team, ensuring transport arrangements are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with statutory requirements, while working closely with schools, transport providers, parents/carers and internal stakeholders.Key ResponsibilitiesCoordinate home-to-school transport arrangements in line with legislation and local authority policies.Procure and manage transport services, ensuring appropriate risk assessments and contract compliance.Ensure safeguarding and child protection requirements are embedded within all transport arrangements.Liaise with transport operators, schools and parents/carers to resolve issues and provide effective solutions.Respond promptly to service disruptions, emergencies and changing transport needs.Apply council policies consistently while maintaining a customer-focused approach.Negotiate, challenge and mediate with stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.Maintain accurate records and utilise Microsoft Office and specialist systems to support service delivery.Candidate RequirementsKnowledge of home-to-school transport legislation and statutory duties.Understanding of SEND and the transport needs of vulnerable ..... full job details .....
