Senior Traffic Engineer

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Traffic Engineer to join our Highways and Transport team, delivering high-quality active travel schemes across the borough. This role will focus on the planning, design, and implementation of pedestrian, cycling, and sustainable transport initiatives to promote safe, efficient, and accessible travel for all residents.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, development, and delivery of active travel schemes, including cycle lanes, pedestrian improvements, and low-traffic neighbourhoods.

• Develop detailed CAD drawings and traffic management plans using AutoCAD, KeyLINES, and KeySIGN.

• Ensure all designs comply with TSRGD, TSM, DMRB, and other relevant standards and legislation.

• Conduct traffic flow analysis, swept path assessments, and safety audits to inform scheme design.

• Manage multiple projects, coordinating with internal departments, contractors, and external stakeholders to ensure timely delivery.

• Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, cost estimates, and funding applications for active travel projects.

• Participate in site visits, surveys, and community consultation events to support design and implementation.

• Provide expert advice and technical support to colleagues, councillors, and partners on traffic management and active travel matters.
