Our banking sector client is looking for an experienced Senior Trade Finance Manager who has previously worked in the UK banking sector. The ideal candidate with have extensive experience in trade finance sales.About the London Corporate and Institutional Banking Team
The Corporate and Institutional Banking team engages across two client pools:Corporate Banking client poolInstitutional client poolFor the above client pools, it employs the following product groups:Global Transaction Banking (Trade Finance, Correspondent banking and Cash management)Structured Trade FinanceCore Responsibilities
Deliver on strategic targets on autonomous basis as provided from the HoCIB and Head of Trade Finance SalesCollaboration with stakeholders across the bank''s network for product development and identification of opportunitiesAs a key stakeholder in managing relationships from a Local RM perspective, identify, attract and maintain relationships with relevant institutional client profiles (to be assessed from time to time by HoCIB), including (but not limited to)Financial institutions such as banksNon-banking financial institutions such as asset managersAs a key stakeholder from a product partner perspective, identify, attract and maintain relationships with relevant corporate client profiles (to be assessed from time to time by HoCIB), in all sectors relevant to Coverage Team.Structure and negotiate terms and conditions with prospective clientsDrive the credit approval process in coordination with the relevant analyst to the standards as set out by Credit Assessment Unit on a cradle to grave principleAttract and execute high quality transactions with Financial Institutions (FI Lending, SWIFT loan, trade loan, ELC conformation, discounting, counter guarantees) in conjunction with the Financial Institutions department in DubaiAttract and execute high quality transactions with Corporates (bilateral facilities, syndicated facilities, Receivables Finance, Supply Chain Finance, Borrowing Base Facilities) in conjunction with RMs in London and Transaction Banking Services in DubaiManaging and monitoring existing credit exposure against deterioration issue (both market and client specific elements) through the dedicated Credit Assessment UnitResponsible for understanding and implementing of the CDD procedures for the respective client base and transactions that has been allocated to the individual including (not exhaustive list):Accuracy of customer due diligence informationAttestation on onboarding of financial crime risk associated with client relationships (both historic and new client relationships)Changes to the client profile that results in a trigger reviewObserve Financial Crime Risk Appetite Statement and wider Financial Crime procedures as will be published and amended from time to timeEnsure transaction risk assessment is undertaken and recordedEnsure reasonable steps are taken when performing AML/CTF checksSanction screeningLiaise with internal departments including corporate banking to assess utilization and seek improvement where applicableCheck legal documentation in consultation with internal legal department and where required with external legal advisersIdentify and report all credit risks involved, including, but not limited to: Operational risks, Overall operating environment, Compliance risksAct as back-up to Trade Finance Officer to handle client requests and product support and developmentAssist in other areas of the Bank as and when required by the Head of Trade Finance SalesSkills / Attributes Required
Academic background in a relevant field coupled with relevant qualification such as CDCS or CITF10 years'' experience minimum in either Banking trade finance environment, Commodity trading house, Trade finance department of multinationalThe job holder will have had previous exposure in dealing with senior management and be familiar with requirements in terms of reporting and communicationThe Job holder will also have had significant exposure to standard trade finance products and will have had experience with wider trade finance elements such as structured trade finance (STF)The Job holder will be able on an autonomous basis to assess the impact of the division on the wider department and satisfy the requirements of senior management to deliver added value in a consistent mannerThe Job holder will be fully aware of the capabilities and appetite of the bank and branch and work towards maximizing output accordinglyExcellent track record in trade finance and wider commercial roleExcellent command of written and spoken English (additional languages are a definite plus)Excellent interpersonal and verbal skillsAn able team playerAbility to work on own initiative and ability to prioritise workAccurate organized individual, flexible and happy to undertake any task in support of the team members and thus the clientExcellent knowledge of MS Office skills in Word, Excel and PowerPointShould have a positive "can do" attitude combined with a flexible approach to the tasks requiredSeniority level
