A growing sustainability consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Sustainability Consultant or Sustainability Consultant to join its London team.

This is an opportunity to work on a diverse range of built environment projects, with a particular focus on sustainability, whole life carbon, circular economy, biodiversity and nature-positive design.

The role offers the chance to work alongside specialists across sustainability, nature and ecology, helping clients move beyond minimum compliance and deliver more ambitious sustainability outcomes across a range of developments.

The role

Depending on experience, you''ll take responsibility for delivering smaller projects independently or specific elements of larger sustainability and engineering projects.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Undertaking whole life carbon assessments and options appraisals to inform design decisions.
• Developing and applying circular economy strategies across a range of projects.
• Producing sustainability reports, whole life carbon assessments, circular economy statements and planning documentation.
• Managing BREEAM assessments, including pre-assessments, workshops and the certification process.
• Managing smaller projects from start to finish, or supporting specific elements of larger projects.
• Providing technical sustainability advice and developing practical solutions to complex challenges.
• Communicating technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Attending client and project meetings and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
• Working collaboratively with wider project teams and sustainability specialists.

About you

The ideal candidate will have around 5 years'' experience at Consultant level or 5+ years'' experience at Senior Consultant level, with a background in sustainability within the built environment.

You''ll ideally have experience with:

• Whole life carbon assessments, with the ability to interpret results and inform design optioneering.
• Circular economy principles and their application across different project types.
• BREEAM, including assessments, workshops and certification.
• Planning processes and associated sustainability documentation.
• Wider sustainability standards and frameworks such as NABERS, Passivhaus and the UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard.
• Building sustainability, carbon assessment, net zero transition and sustainability advisory projects.

Relevant professional accreditations such as BREEAM, WELL or other sustainability certifications would be advantageous, alongside a relevant degree or equivalent qualification in sustainability, architecture, engineering, consultancy or a related discipline.
