Senior Support Worker - Children's Residential

Step into a role where your leadership, experience, and compassion can shape the future for vulnerable young people.
We''re recruiting on behalf of a client for a Senior Residential Care Worker to guide and inspire both the young people in your care and the team around you. This is your chance to combine hands-on support with the opportunity to lead shifts, mentor colleagues, and ensure a safe, structured, and nurturing home environment.
In this role, you''ll be more than a carer - you''ll be a role model, decision-maker, and trusted figure who helps young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties develop the skills and confidence they need to thrive.
The Role:
As Senior Residential Care Worker, you''ll take on both direct care and leadership responsibilities, including:
·Leading and motivating your team to deliver exceptional, consistent care.
·Acting as shift leader, taking operational responsibility when required.
·Building a safe, warm, and positive home environment.
·Supporting young people with daily routines, schoolwork, appointments, and leisure activities.
·Acting as a key worker, contributing to and monitoring care plans.
·Managing challenging behaviour using effective strategies and company-approved techniques.
·Supervising and developing team members.
·Working collaboratively with parents, social workers, and other professionals.
Hours:
Work a rolling rota of two days on (7:00am-11:00pm, including shared sleep-ins) followed by four days off.
What We''re Looking For:
·QCF/NVQ Level 3 in Care (essential).
·Residential childcare experience, ideally supporting young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
·Strong leadership and staff supervision experience.
·Knowledge of childcare legislation, safeguarding, and Quality Standards.
·Excellent communication, organisation, and decision-making skills.
·Ability to lead by example while maintaining professional boundaries.
·Full UK driving licence (preferred).
Why Join?
You''ll have the scope to influence outcomes for both the young people and the staff team you lead, supported by ongoing training and career development. Every shift is an opportunity to make a tangible difference - and see the results of your leadership in action.
If you''re confident, committed, and ready to take ownership of a rewarding leadership role in residential childcare, we''d love to hear from you.
