Senior Structural Engineer

First People Solutions is working with a leading consulting engineer who are looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join their Structures team in Edinburgh.

The team works across a diverse portfolio of commercial, healthcare, education, industrial, life sciences and residential projects, covering everything from new-build developments to the refurbishment and renovation of existing and historic buildings throughout Scotland and the UK.

The Role

• Manage structural projects from design through to completion, including programme, resources, budgets and risk
• Act as a key client contact, attending design team and client meetings and carrying out site inspections
• Lead and mentor Graduate and Project Engineers
• Undertake detailed structural design and calculations across a range of materials.
• Produce reports, specifications and calculation packages
• Carry out technical reviews, design checks and QA
• Support fee proposals, tenders and business development
• Build and maintain strong client relationships

What We''re Looking For

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Chartered Engineer preferred or close to (CEng/IStructE)
• 5+ years'' post-graduate experience in a design engineering environment preferred
• Strong structural design experience, ideally within commercial and industrial developments
• Proven project management and client-facing experience
• Experience with relevant structural design software
• Strong communication and technical checking skills
