Senior Structural Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Structural Engineer to join a leading multi-disciplinary consultancy, playing a pivotal role in strengthening their structural engineering team in Manchester and supporting projects across the wider UK.
This role offers exposure to a wide variety of projects - from the design of large, complex developments valued between £5m and £200m, to detailed assessments of existing structures. It''s a chance to take on responsibility, develop leadership skills, and make a real impact on the built environment.
The Role
As Senior Structural Engineer, you''ll be delivering high-quality structural engineering services within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary design team. You''ll take projects from inception through to completion, while mentoring junior staff and contributing to the growth and commercial direction of the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead projects independently, ensuring delivery to programme, quality and budget.
- Undertake structural analysis and design in accordance with Eurocodes, delivering sustainable, efficient, and buildable solutions.
- Review and check technical deliverables including calculations, drawings, reports, and specifications.
- Conduct structural surveys, inspections and building assessments, producing clear technical reports and recommendations.
- Mentor and support junior engineers, technicians and apprentices.
- Oversee site visits, resolving technical queries and supporting contractors during construction.
- Contribute to resource planning and financial performance reporting.
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Chartered, or working towards Chartered status, with IStructE or ICE.
- Strong technical background in the design of concrete, steel, masonry and timber structures.
- Proficient with structural design software
- Knowledge of BIM and 3D environments, with AutoCAD/Revit experience an advantage.
- Demonstrable experience running projects of significant size and complexity in the UK.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, confident in a client-facing role.
- Commercially aware, collaborative, and ambitious.
