The Role
The Controls Engineer will take ownership of the design, development, and delivery of automation software for advanced materials handling systems. Spanning the full project lifecycle from concept to commissioning, the role offers the opportunity to work closely with multidisciplinary teams and clients to deliver robust, high-performance control systems.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of automation software projects from initial concept through to commissioning.
- Develop software architectures and produce functional design specifications.
- Conduct factory and site acceptance testing to ensure performance and compliance.
- Drive integration, upgrades, and commissioning activities, ensuring technical quality and reliability.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering standards and practices.
About You
- Expert-level experience with Siemens TIA Portal - this is an essential requirement.
- Proven track record in automation software or controls system design within industrial or materials handling environments.
- Strong knowledge of industrial networks, distributed drive technologies, and testing methodologies.
- Programming experience in languages such as C++, Java, or Python is advantageous.
- A proactive and organised professional able to work independently and lead projects.
- Willingness to travel nationally and internationally for commissioning and integration (potentially for periods of a few weeks).
