We focus on Roku Players, building everything from low-level drivers to features that touch the user interface. What unites us is a shared drive to ship clean, reliable, high-performance code that makes streaming seamless and joyful for millions of users.We’re looking for an engineer who’s not just technically strong, but also curious, collaborative, and comfortable owning features end-to-end, from idea to release.About the roleAs a Senior Engineer , you’ll help build the embedded software systems that power Roku’s devices. You’ll be working deep in the stack, on everything from the bootloader up to performance-critical features of Roku OS. You’ll shape how our products interact with hardware, scale across platforms, and stay blazing fast.You’ll also collaborate across disciplines: working with product managers to align on goals, partnering with QA to ensure rock-solid releases and teaming up with hardware vendors to bring our next-gen products to life.We’re Excited If You HaveExtensive Embedded C/C++ experience and a strong track record of building fast, reliable embedded systemsA deep understanding of how devices work, from bootloaders and firmware updates to SoC componentsPerformance mindset - you write clean, efficient code that runs smoothly and scales easilyHands-on Linux experience, plus familiarity with open-source tooling and workflowsGreat communication and collaboration skills, with a self-directed, proactive way of workingWhat You’ll Be DoingBuilding features from the ground up — design it, code it, own it through to releaseSolving real hardware-software challenges, working deep in the stack across multiple Roku devicesCollaborating across teams - QA, PMs and hardware vendors to launch high-quality features fastOptimising for performance, using tools and metrics to keep everything running smooth and fastSharing your knowledge, from thoughtful code reviews to maintaining technical docs and team know-howBenefits
