Senior Software Design Engineer

Are you an experienced Embedded Software Engineer with strong C programming and real-time systems experience?
Do you have experience working with RTOS, ARM-based platforms and wireless communication technologies?

If so, TXM Recruit are sourcing a Senior Software Design Engineer for an established technology and engineering organisation in the UK. This is a full-time, permanent position with a flexible on-site working model.

Working within the Engineering team and reporting to the Group Technical and Engineering Director, you will design, develop and maintain embedded software for next-generation products, working closely with Hardware Engineers and Solution Consultants to deliver reliable and innovative systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop embedded software for ARM-based platforms using RTOS technologies such as Zephyr or FreeRTOS.
• Develop and maintain embedded software primarily using C.
• Implement and optimise wireless communication technologies including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Zigbee.
• Work with Hardware and Engineering teams to define software requirements, architecture and design specifications.
• Debug, test and optimise embedded systems to ensure performance and reliability.
• Follow software development best practices, with knowledge of MISRA guidelines desirable.
• Maintain clear documentation covering software design, testing and troubleshooting.
• Support Linux-based application development and test simulations.
• Stay up to date with emerging embedded technologies and development practices.

Skills & Experience

• 5+ years'' experience in embedded software development.
• Strong C programming experience within an RTOS environment.
• Experience with Zephyr, FreeRTOS or similar RTOS platforms.
• Experience with wireless communication technologies such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or Zigbee.
• Knowledge of ARM-based microprocessors and embedded development tools.
• Experience with Git or similar version control systems.
• Knowledge of Linux application development and test environments.
• Understanding of secure software development, encryption and secure communications.
• JavaScript and HTML experience would be advantageous.
• Experience within consumer electronics, IoT or similar embedded systems would be desirable.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Relevant embedded software development experience with a strong focus on C, RTOS and wireless technologies.
