Senior Social Worker

About the Role

Suffolk County Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join the South Suffolk Children in Need Team, based in Sudbury. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and fast-paced service covering both rural and town localities across South Suffolk.

Location: Uplands, York Road, Sudbury, CO10 1NF
Rate: -38.00 - -40.50 per hour (Umbrella)
Working Pattern: 30 hours over 4 days considered
Contract: Locum
Working Arrangement: Hybrid working with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office

You will play a key role in safeguarding and supporting children and families, undertaking a varied caseload and contributing to the team''s assessment and duty functions. The successful candidate will be confident working within a busy environment and experienced in delivering high-quality social work interventions.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake Child and Family Assessments under Section 17 and Section 47.
• Manage cases involving Children in Need and Child Protection plans.
• Participate in duty and assessment work within a fast-paced service.
• Complete timely and robust assessments, reports, and plans.
• Work collaboratively with children, families, partner agencies, and professionals to achieve positive outcomes.

Requirements

• Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
• Significant experience within Children''s Social Care.
• Proven experience working in Assessment Teams.
• Strong understanding and practical experience of:
  • Section 17 Assessments
  • Section 47 Enquiries
  • Child Protection processes
  • Children in Need planning
• Ability to manage a demanding workload and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Candidates must either live within Suffolk or be able to stay locally during the working week to meet the office attendance requirements.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975. As this role is eligible for an Enhanced DBS check, applicants are required to declare any cautions and convictions that are not protected under current filtering rules.
