Our client Leeds City Council is looking for a Senior Social Worker to join their Children looked after team.
Senior Social Worker - Children Looked After Team
Role purpose:
To provide high-quality social work services to children and young people who are looked after by the Local Authority, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, development and long-term outcomes are promoted. The role involves working closely with children, young people, families, foster carers and other professionals to ensure that each child receives appropriate care and support.
Key responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of children and young people who are looked after by the Local Authority.
- Undertake comprehensive assessments and develop, implement and review care plans.
- Ensure children''s voices, wishes and feelings are central to all decision-making.
- Undertake statutory visits and reviews in accordance with legislation and local authority procedures.
- Work closely with foster carers, birth families, schools, health professionals and other agencies.
- Promote positive relationships between looked-after children and their families where appropriate.
- Support children and young people to achieve positive educational, emotional, social and health outcomes.
- Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and risks.
- Prepare reports and provide evidence for Looked After Reviews, court proceedings and other formal meetings.
- Work within relevant legislation, policies and safeguarding procedures.
- Contribute to permanence planning, including reunification, long-term fostering, special guardianship and adoption where appropriate.
- Support young people preparing to leave care and transition into adulthood.
- Provide professional advice, guidance and support to colleagues and other professionals.
- Take responsibility for complex cases and provide support and guidance to less experienced social workers.
- Participate in team meetings, supervision, case discussions and service development.
- Maintain accurate, timely and comprehensive case records.
