Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be the technical anchor on-site, managing complex engineering elements from deep excavations to reinforced concrete (RC) structures. Your day-to-day will involve:
Technical Oversight: Accurately interpret drawings/specifications, check sub-contractor setting out, and manage as-built symmetry, retained structures, and piling/tolerance recording.
Earthworks & Groundworks: Manage deep excavations, stabilisation checks, and cut-and-fill modelling imports.
Quality & Compliance: Conduct rigorous inspections of all RC elements, approve method statements, monitor compliance, and ensure all health, safety, and quality systems are strictly maintained.
Commercial Collaboration: Provide crucial technical data, re-measures, and survey deviance reports to the commercial team to support claims and sub-contractor analysis.
Reporting & Records: Keep the Project/Contracts Manager fully updated on project status and maintain comprehensive, accurate records for archive.
What We Are Looking For
This role requires a specialist background in complex groundworks and large-scale educational builds. To be successful, you must have:
CAT 3 Basement Build Experience: This is essential. You must have a proven track record dealing with the complexities of Category 3 basement construction.
Main Contracting Expertise: Significant, demonstrable experience working within the UK main contracting market.
Education Sector Background: Experience delivering major education schemes valued between -10 million and -100 million.
Sharp Commercial & Tech Skills: Ability to interface seamlessly with commercial teams, cross-examine sub-contractor data, and provide clear technical advice on problem areas.
