Hyperion Partners is working with an established residential property management business seeking a capable and motivated Senior Service Charge Accountant-to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys taking ownership of financial operations while supporting and developing a team. You will play a key role in ensuring the accurate delivery of service charge accounts across a portfolio of residential developments, balancing day-to-day accounting responsibilities with team oversight and process improvement.

Working alongside colleagues across finance and property management, you will help maintain strong financial controls, improve reporting standards and ensure clients receive a reliable, professional service.

What You''ll Be Responsible For

Leading and developing the team

  • Oversee the daily activities of the service charge accounting team, ensuring workloads are distributed effectively and deadlines are prioritised.

  • Support team members with technical queries, account preparation and the resolution of more complex issues.

  • Conduct regular performance reviews, one-to-one meetings and appraisals, encouraging professional development and accountability.

  • Identify training needs and help colleagues strengthen their technical knowledge and confidence.

Managing financial operations

  • Oversee the preparation and completion of annual service charge accounts and Residents'' Management Company (RMC) accounts.

  • Prepare accounts for an allocated portfolio of properties, including issuing service charge demands and completing bank reconciliations.

  • Review financial statements and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and consistency before completion.

  • Monitor outstanding balances and cash flow, escalating potential funding concerns and resolving discrepancies where necessary.

  • Coordinate ground rent payments to freeholders and assist with service charge budget reviews.

  • Provide support with corporation tax administration and other portfolio-related accounting requirements.

Maintaining standards and improving processes

  • Ensure accounting procedures and financial controls are applied consistently across the team.

  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting, streamline workflows and reduce errors.

  • Provide management with updates on account progress, workload pressures and potential financial risks.

What We''re Looking For

We are keen to speak with accounting professionals who combine strong technical knowledge with a practical, supportive approach to leadership.

You will ideally bring:

  • An ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification, or equivalent experience gained through relevant accounting roles.

  • Demonstrable experience preparing year-end accounts, preferably within service charge accounting or residential property management.

  • At least two years'' experience in a team leader, supervisory or management position.

  • A sound understanding of bank reconciliations, financial reporting, cash management and accounting controls.

  • The ability to review accounts thoroughly, identify issues and implement effective solutions.

  • Strong organisational skills and the confidence to manage competing deadlines.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the wider Microsoft Office suite.

  • Experience with financial reporting and mail merge processes.

Experience within an accountancy practice would be beneficial but is not essential. Familiarity with property management accounting software, such as Qube, would also be advantageous; however, candidates with experience of similar systems will be considered.

Most importantly, you will be someone who takes pride in producing accurate work, enjoys helping others succeed, and looks for practical ways to improve how a team operates.

What You Can Expect

  • A competitive salary and benefits package, depending on experience.

  • The opportunity to take on a key leadership role within an established accounting function.

  • A varied position combining technical accounting with team development.

  • Access to ongoing training and professional development.

  • The opportunity to contribute to the development of accounting processes and service standards.
