The Role
The Senior Machinery Safety Assessor is responsible for identifying and reporting non-compliances against UK, European, and international standards, producing detailed technical reports, and providing expert safety and compliance advice to clients.
This is a client-facing role involving travel across the UK and Europe, with key responsibilities including:
- Conducting machinery safety and PUWER assessments in line with company procedures and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER).
- Undertaking assessments in accordance with the Use of Work Equipment Directive (UWED).
- Supporting CE/UKCA marking compliance in line with the EU Machinery Directive and the UK Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008.
- Attending client sites to carry out machinery safety assessments and compliance evaluations.
- Producing comprehensive technical reports, due diligence documentation, and corrective action plans.
- Generating RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements).
- Reviewing electrical schematics, control systems, risk assessments, and technical files.
- Ensuring compliance with the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 at all times, both on site and in the office.
- Providing expert machinery safety guidance and mentoring junior colleagues.
Requirements
The role of an experienced Machinery Safety Assessor requires:
- A full UK driving licence
- Strong knowledge of UK/EU machinery safety legislation (PUWER, Machinery Directive, SMSR).
- Practical experience in machinery risk/safety assessments and relevant EN/ISO standards.
- Familiarity with functional safety and control systems.
- Excellent reporting, technical, and communication skills.
- Ability to read electrical drawings (a key skill)
Qualifications:
- Electrical, mechanical, or H&S-related qualifications
- CMCE, CECE, CFSE, FSENG
Location
- Ideal locations for a candidate to live would be Suffolk, Yorkshire or Leeds due to high client demand in those areas.
Salary & Benefits
- -55,000k - -75,000k salary (DOE)
