A highly regarded London law firm is seeking a Senior Risk & Compliance Lawyer to join its established Risk & Information Security team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor, barrister or equivalent qualified lawyer with at least 4 years'' PQE who is looking to develop a broad risk and compliance career within a sophisticated and collegiate law firm environment.
Working closely with senior stakeholders, including the Risk & Compliance Director, General Counsel/COLP and Partners across the firm, you will play a key role in supporting regulatory compliance, client onboarding, conflicts management and firm-wide risk initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Advising on conflicts of interest, confidentiality and regulatory issues arising from new matter intake and client onboarding.
- Reviewing and analysing Outside Counsel Guidelines and supporting compliance through Intapp Open.
- Assisting with complaints handling, including liaison with the Legal Ombudsman, SRA and other stakeholders where required.
- Providing guidance on SRA Code of Conduct obligations, professional standards and firm engagement terms.
- Conducting rolling internal file reviews to ensure adherence to firm policies and best practice.
- Supporting document requests from clients, regulators and third parties.
- Drafting and updating internal policies and procedures across a range of risk and governance matters.
- Assisting with ISO9001 compliance and supporting wider ISO27001 and business continuity initiatives.
- Undertaking regulatory research and supporting strategic compliance projects.
Applicants should have:
- Qualification as a Solicitor, Barrister or equivalent overseas lawyer with an unrestricted practising certificate.
- A minimum of 4 years'' PQE.
- Experience gained within a law firm risk and compliance team or in fee-earning practice with exposure to regulatory matters.
- Strong working knowledge of the SRA Code of Conduct and wider regulatory framework.
- Exposure to AML, sanctions, source of funds, PEPs and data protection issues would be advantageous.
- Excellent drafting and communication skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work confidently with Partners and senior stakeholders.
