The School of Psychology at UNSW is the leading Psychology school in Australia. About The Role
Salary: $155k - $178k plus 17% Superannuation and annual leave loading
Fixed Term – 3 years
Full time (35 hours)
The Senior Research Fellow, Statistician (Level C) is expected to provide leadership of the statistical analysis work for a project on neuroendocrine risk factors for Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. An academic at this level is expected to play a major role in research, including leadership in research. This role forms part of the project
Reducing Women’s Risk of Alzheimer’s Disease , which contributes to the overall goals of the Cutting Alzheimer’s Risk through Endocrinology (CARE) Program. The role reports to Professor Kaarin Anstey and has no direct reports.
Specific Responsibilities For This Role Include
Make independent contributions to research according to the project work plan, with significant impact in their field and a nationally recognised research track record.
Undertake independent research in dementia epidemiology contributing to project milestones.
Develop research groups in areas of specialist expertise and methods appropriate for delivering project outcomes.
Attract peer recognition and establish research networks at national level.
Obtain research income from nationally competitive grants and/or fellowships, and collaborate with end-users as appropriate.
Mentor and guide students, groups, and colleagues; supervise HDRs to timely completion as primary supervisor; contribute to HDR review panels.
Provide statistical advice to international collaborators and lead data harmonization and collaborative data analysis across teams.
Assist with preparing integrative annual reporting for the CARE program.
Align with and demonstrate the Code of Conduct and Values.
Identify and control hazards and risks for tasks within your area of responsibility.
About The Successful Applicant
A PhD in Statistics and relevant work experience in developing risk prediction models for Alzheimer’s Disease and dementia through secondary analysis of biobanks and cohort studies.
Evidence of an interest in sex and gender aspects of dementia epidemiology through relevant publications.
Advanced statistical skills and ability to provide high level advice and facilitate international collaboration on methods for dementia epidemiology.
Commitment to staying up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
Track record in delivering milestones on project timelines and producing high-quality, high-impact research with leadership potential.
Ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines, and build effective relationships.
Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
Understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values, and relevant policies and guidelines.
Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to relevant training.
