Job Description:

Adept:us is recruiting a Senior Reliability & Safety Engineer for a Bristol-based client in the aerospace sector. Following the award of several major projects, our client is looking to engage a contractor on a 12 month rolling basis, based at the clients facility for a minimum of 3 days per week in Brough, East ridings of Yorkshire.

Project Scope: Motor Reliability Analysis & Safety Assessment

The primary focus is to perform a quantitative safety assessment of a high-performance motor assembly. You will be responsible for mapping hardware-level failures to system-level effects (MPL, PPL, LOP) using standard aerospace / automotive safety processes.

Core Responsibilities:

· Safety Assessment Integration: Apply ARP4761/A guidelines to perform Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA) and Preliminary System Safety Assessments (PSSA).

· Fault Tree Analysis (FTA): Develop quantitative and qualitative FTAs to determine the probability of specific power loss events.

· FMECA Management: Review and update the existing FMECA to ensure all failure modes are correctly mapped to the three defined severity levels (MPL, PPL, LOP).

· Failure Rate Determination: Define and justify failure rates using industry-standard databases (e.g., Telcordia, MIL-HDBK-217, or SN 29500) or field data.

· Report Generation: Compile a comprehensive Safety & Reliability Report that synthesizes the FMECA and FTA findings for certification or client review.

Technical Requirements & Key Skills:

· Methodologies: Deep expertise in ARP4761A (Guidelines and Methods for Conducting the Safety Assessment Process) or ISO 26262.

· Tools: Proficiency in safety modeling software (e.g., Isograph Reliability Workbench, CAFTA, or Ansys medini analyze).

· Domain Knowledge: Understanding of electric motor architecture, power electronics, and common failure mechanisms in high-voltage systems.

· Analytical Rigor: Ability to translate complex Bills of Materials (BOM) into logical reliability models.

· Previous design experience on military aircrafts (beneficial)

Project Deliverables:

· System FTA: Quantified models for Minor, Partial, and Total Loss of Power.

· Revised FMECA: A detailed worksheet including Severity, Occurrence, and Detection rankings.

· Reliability Summary Report: A formal document defining the calculated failure rates per operating hour.

If you meet the requirements outlined above, we would welcome your application
