Leading engineering contractor seeks a Senior Regional Planner to join their established team in London.
The role will see you report into the Head of Planning and oversee the delivery of various projects in London and the South East. You will join an established team of 7 planning professionals and provide support and guidance to the more junior members when needed.
This role offers an opportunity to work either on a permanent basis or on a contract (Outside IR35), contributing to major programmes in the Energy, Highways, Water, and Rail sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing cost and resource-loaded programmes covering the complete scope of works as per contract
- Creating and maintaining a robust, logically linked, cost and resource-loaded programme
- Maintaining client expectations from a programme point of view
- Ensuring the team provides comprehensive programme updates and reviewing work before submission
- Weekly updates of the project programme
- Preparing and submitting weekly site progress photo reports
- Carrying out regular programme reviews and ensuring contractual obligations are met
- Carrying out impact assessments and presenting delay programmes, cause and effect programmes
- Tracking progress through look-ahead site diaries and regular site visits
- Conducting delay and EoT (Extension of Time) analysis and forensic planning
- Preparing EoT programmes and ''What If'' programmes to support commercial submissions
- Supporting the planning team with similar duties on projects nationwide as requested by the Planning Manager
- Implementing planning standards on the project programme
- Ensuring realistic programme logic and maintaining a programme log for all changes
- Preparing programmes and progress narratives for all updated programmes
- Highlighting programme concerns to the Planning Manager and project team and proposing mitigations
- Issuing periodic Earned Value Analysis and SPI, CPIs
- Communicating with clients and presenting programme information at all levels
- Preparing tender programmes as requested by the Head of Planning
- Recording and managing planning issues and escalating when necessary
- Resolving cross-functional issues at the planning level
- Incorporating additional works into programmes
- Tracking key dependencies and highlighting them on the programme regularly
- Supporting commercial management of risks and opportunities at the project level
- Formulating and supporting new business initiatives, leading some as required
Job Requirements:
- Experience in project planning within the Energy, Highways, Water, or Rail sectors
- Experience working for tier 1 or tier 2 contracting companies
- Experience using the NEC form of contract
- Strong proficiency in preparing resource-loaded programmes
- Ability to maintain client expectations and provide comprehensive programme updates
- Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting information at all levels
- Meticulous in tracking progress and implementing planning standards
- Ability to resolve cross-functional issues and manage additional works
- Experience in delay and EoT analysis, forensic planning, and commercial support
- Proficiency in Earned Value Analysis and managing risks and opportunities
