Senior Quantity Surveyor – Water & Infrastructure

Salary: £60,000 – £75,000 + benefits

Hours: 42.5 hours per week

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join Barhale, a leading UK civil engineering and infrastructure contractor.

This is a North London-based opportunity for a commercially experienced QS who has worked on water, utilities or infrastructure projects.

You will be responsible for managing the commercial performance of projects, working closely with project teams, clients and subcontractors.

What We''re Looking For

We''re particularly interested in candidates with:

• Experience as a Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor within construction, civil engineering or infrastructure.

• Strong experience working on water, wastewater, utilities or infrastructure projects.

• Experience managing projects around £1m–£5m in value.

• Strong knowledge of NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts.

• Experience with Target Cost contracts.

• Strong commercial and cost-control experience.

• Experience preparing and managing CVRs, forecasts and cost reports.

• Experience with cash flow and financial reporting.

• Experience managing subcontract procurement and subcontractor accounts.

• Experience with valuations, payments, accruals and final accounts.

• Good understanding of commercial and contractual risk.

• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.

• Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.

Desirable

It would be advantageous if you have:

• Experience working for a direct-delivery contractor.

• Strong water-sector experience.

• Experience with IChemE contracts.

• HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.

• RICS membership or working towards it.

• CSCS card.

• Experience in estimating.

Key Responsibilities

You''ll be responsible for:

• Managing the commercial performance of projects.

• Preparing monthly CVRs, forecasts and cost reports.

• Monitoring project costs, margins and cash flow.

• Managing subcontract procurement and subcontractor accounts.

• Preparing applications for payment.

• Managing accounts through to final account.

• Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities.

• Supporting contract and change management.

• Working closely with Project Managers, Site Teams and Commercial Managers.

• Liaising with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.

• Providing commercial advice to project teams.

• Supporting and mentoring junior commercial staff.
