Senior Quantity Surveyor

OverviewExpress Recruitment are delighted to be working with a leading national civil engineering firm to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead the team and shape its success.

Salary up to c£75,000 per annum, with car allowance and an annual discretionary bonus. Benefits include hybrid working, generous holiday allowance, private medical insurance and life assurance.

Responsibilities

Lead the negotiation, appointment, and full lifecycle oversight of sub-contractor packages—from initial engagement through to final account settlement

Act as the primary commercial contact for clients, handling valuations, variations, and ensuring financial transparency across all schemes

Produce accurate monthly cost reports aligned with project budgets, proactively identifying and addressing any cost-related issues

Foster strong working relationships with Contracts Managers and site teams to ensure seamless project delivery and high-quality outcomes

Support junior staff by mentoring, monitoring progress, and guiding their development within project environments

Uphold company policies and procedures under the Integrated Management System (IMS), while remaining adaptable to undertake additional duties as required

Skills and Experience

Extensive experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, with strong tendering and estimating skills

Strong background within building, construction or similar industries

Previous contract management and/or negotiation experience

Working knowledge of construction contracts

Excellent stakeholder management and ability to liaise with key clients

Team leadership or management experience preferred but not essential

Willingness to be on-site and travel where required with a full UK driving licence
