Senior Quantity Surveyor

EA Associates are working with an established Tier 1 Main Contractor to recruit an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor for a major education project in Essex.

This is an opportunity to join a well-established main contractor with a strong presence in the region, taking on a senior commercial role within the delivery team of a significant construction project.

The Role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of the project, working closely with the operational team to ensure costs, procurement and contractual matters are managed effectively throughout delivery.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Commercial management of the project from procurement through to final account.

• Management of subcontractor packages, including procurement, valuations and payments.

• Preparation of cost reports, forecasts and financial updates.

• Management of variations, contractual notices and change control.

• Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities.

• Working closely with the Project Manager and wider site team.

• Negotiation and agreement of subcontractor final accounts.

About You

We are looking to speak with experienced Quantity Surveyors or Senior Quantity Surveyors who have a background working for established Main Contractors.

Ideally, you will have:

• Previous experience working for a Main Contractor on sizeable construction projects.

• A strong understanding of commercial management and construction contracts.

• Experience managing subcontractor packages and project cost reporting.

• The ability to work independently and take ownership of commercial responsibilities.

• Good communication skills and a practical, commercially minded approach.

• Experience delivering education, healthcare or other major public sector projects would be advantageous, although not essential.
