Senior Quantity Surveyor

The Client
A leading specialist civils subcontractor that cover RC Frame/Groundworks and Demolition schemes across London and the Home counties. They have a current turnover of -160m and work on schemes up to -30m.
The Role
This client is seeking an experienced and commercially astute Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team, managing a portfolio of complex and high-value projects in Central London. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in cut & carve, structural demolition, strip-out, and RC works, ideally within the commercial, heritage, or high-end residential sectors. You will be responsible for the full commercial lifecycle of projects, from tender through to final account, ensuring profitability, compliance, and excellence in delivery.
- Lead commercial and contractual oversight on demolition, structural alteration, and enabling works packages.
- Prepare, manage, and track project budgets, cost plans, and CVRs.
- Conduct subcontract procurement, negotiation, and package management.
- Oversee valuations, applications for payment, variations, and final accounts.
- Ensure proper risk identification and mitigation through commercial controls.
- Work closely with site and project management teams to ensure alignment between operational and commercial strategies.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and subcontractors professionally and proactively.
- Mentor and support junior members of the commercial team as required.
- Maintain full compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations, including NEC, JCT, and bespoke contracts.
The Requirements
- Minimum 6+ years of quantity surveying experience, with at least 3 in a senior QS role.
- Proven experience in cut & carve, demolition, strip-out, and RC frame works.
- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a relevant construction-related field.
- Strong working knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts.
- Commercially and contractually savvy with excellent negotiation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and project cost software (e.g. Coins, Causeway, or similar).
- Excellent communication, reporting, and leadership skills.
- Based in or able to commute daily to Central London.
