Senior Quantity Surveyor

We are seeking two hands-on Senior Quantity Surveyors to join a leading contractor on a major highways programme. These are long-term freelance roles (12 months+) where you''ll be central to managing subcontractor accounts, driving commercial processes, and ensuring best practice across cost and contract management.
This is not a senior management or strategic role - the right people will be "doers" who are comfortable rolling up their sleeves and delivering the day-to-day QS duties at a high standard. While highways experience is advantageous, we are open to candidates with wider civil engineering backgrounds provided they have proven subcontractor management and NEC contract expertise.

Key Responsibilities
·Subcontract Management: Day-to-day commercial management of subcontractor accounts, from procurement to final accounts.
·Contract Administration: Work with NEC contracts (Options A & C preferred), ensuring accurate notices, payments, and change management.
·Valuations & Payments: Prepare and assess valuations, process payments, and maintain accurate cost records.
·Change & Compensation Events: Identify, prepare, and agree variations/compensation events with full substantiation.
·Reporting: Support the project commercial team with CVRs, forecasts, and cashflow reporting.
·Collaboration: Work closely with the project team and client to ensure smooth commercial delivery.
·Support: Provide assistance and guidance to QS colleagues where required.

Requirements
·Experience Level: Proven track record as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor (minimum 5+ years'' experience).
·Contracts: Essential - strong working knowledge of NEC forms of contract.
·Sector Background: Highways experience is desirable, but strong subcontract management experience in civil engineering/infrastructure is equally valued.
·Approach: Proactive, detail-oriented, and commercially astute - someone who delivers, not just oversees.
·Availability: Immediate start preferred, but the client is willing to wait for the right candidate.
·Qualifications: Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or equivalent (professional membership desirable but not essential).
