Senior Quantity Surveyor

Westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor interested in opportunities on a contract basis, to be located in Clyde with hybrid working.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial management of designated projects.
• Manage procurement and subcontract packages, including preparation of tender documentation, evaluation, and contract negotiation.
• Administer NEC contracts (and other standard forms), including change management, variations, and claims.
• Prepare, manage, and agree interim valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts.
• Produce accurate monthly cost value reconciliations (CVRs), forecasts, and cash flow reports.
• Identify, manage, and mitigate commercial risks while maximising opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with company financial procedures and reporting requirements.
• Provide commercial advice and support to project teams and senior management.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with the client, supply chain, and internal stakeholders.
• Mentor and support junior commercial staff as required.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

• Degree in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent experience).
• Chartered or working toward professional accreditation (RICS, CIOB, ICES).
• Proven experience as a QS / Senior QS on large civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of NEC contract forms and contract administration.
• Track record in procurement, cost management, and commercial reporting.
• Excellent numerical, analytical, and communication skills.
• Proficient in relevant financial/commercial systems.
• Eligibility for security clearance (due to defence site requirements).

Desirable:

• Previous experience on defence, nuclear, or highly regulated infrastructure projects.
• Experience leading teams of surveyors.
