Senior Quantity Surveyor

Are you a skilled Senior Quantity Surveyor with a proven track record in delivering successful projects within the highways sector? An exciting opportunity awaits you in Plymouth to play a pivotal role on a local highways scheme.
 
This is a freelance role, initially for 3/6 months, focused on managing change and administering NEC contracts. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring commercial control, particularly around variations, compensation events, and accurate cost reporting. The role will be client facing alongside a focus on internal measures.
 
Key Requirements:
·Extensive experience in major Highways projects, preferably with National Highways experience.
·Strong background in quantity surveying and cost management.
·Excellent knowledge of contract administration and procurement processes.
·Ability to manage and lead a team of surveyors effectively.
·Strong negotiation skills and commercial acumen.
·Happy to work at least 4 days on-site per week.
 
Responsibilities:
·Oversee all quantity surveying activities for the National Highways scheme in Norwich.
·Manage project finances, including cost forecasting, budgeting, and risk analysis.
·Conduct regular site visits and liaise with project stakeholders to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
·Provide accurate and timely financial reports to senior management.
·Mentor and support junior members of the surveying team.
 
Qualifications and Skills:
·Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field.
·Professional accreditation (RICS, CIOB, etc.) preferred.
·Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on large-scale infrastructure projects.
·Proficiency in relevant software applications (e.g., MS Excel, CostX, etc.).
·Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
