Senior Quantity Surveyor

OverviewCivil Engineering Contractor are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to cover their Western region based in both Southampton and Weston-super-Mere to work on projects from Pier restoration, climate adaptation to infrastructure projects. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will receive a generous salary up to £75,000 + Car allowance or Salary Sacrifice Electric / Hybrid Car Scheme, company bonus, Private Healthcare and fantastic career development to Regional MQS.

Responsibilities

Provide a thorough and professional commercial service for all projects for which they are responsible.

Ensure business objectives in terms of health and safety, profitability and customer focus are achieved or exceeded.

Manage the Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) process within the business.

Establish and maintain the Operations/Commercial partnership required.

Monitor and manage risk and associated budgets; monitor performance standards and quality.

Procure subcontractors at competitive prices; seek to negotiate the best price for the company.

Build strong relationships with clients and their representatives.

Discuss and develop procurement strategy with team members in accordance with the contract programme; monitor and update as necessary.

Submit timely applications for payments to ensure cash flow is maintained.

Manage subcontractors effectively in accordance with their terms and conditions.

Ensure project cost forecasts are updated accurately and in a timely manner.

Job Requirements

Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within a Heavy Civil Engineering Environment.

Working understanding of NEC3, NEC4, ECC, ICE and JCT types of contracts.

Understanding of Tendering and Procurement processes.

Experience of tidal projects would be highly advantageous.

Knowledge of QHSE legislation.

Experience of dispute resolution.

Understanding of CVRs and financial reports.

Full driving licence and CSCS Card.

Preferably HNC or Degree educated in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management.
