About The Role

Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking to take your next step in a high-profile, technically fascinating environment? Balfour Beatty is supporting the transformation of the Rolls-Royce facility in Derby – a critical upgrade to help deliver major future government projects, and we’re looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial team. This is an opportunity to lead commercial management activity on a high-value, strategic programme while mentoring and supporting the next generation of commercial professionals.

What you''ll be doingAs a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you''ll be responsible for managing all commercial aspects across your area of the project – including costs, income, subcontractor engagement, and change management.

Lead commercial planning and forecasting

Prepare activity and resource schedules

Analyse tender documents and negotiate subcontract packages

Support claims, contract changes, and compensation events

Oversee internal reporting, KPIs, and cost control

Support the recruitment and development of junior commercial staff

Promote best practice and digital/LEAN initiatives in commercial governance

Who we''re looking forWe’re seeking someone who brings a mix of commercial experience, leadership capability, and technical understanding.

You''ll Ideally Have

A degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent

Chartered status (MRICS, MCInstCES, or MCIOB) or working towards it

Previous experience on major build or infrastructure projects

Familiarity with NEC4 Option E (Cost Reimbursable) contracts

Strong stakeholder and client management skills

BPSS or (ideally) SC Security Clearance

A CSCS (Professionally Qualified Person) card
