An established main contractor operating across the UK and Ireland is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team, supporting the delivery of high-value construction projects across a range of sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review project budgets, cost plans and forecasts.
• Manage subcontractor procurement, including prequalification, tender assessment, negotiation and preparation of subcontract orders.
• Assess subcontractor valuations and certify interim payments, ensuring payment and pay-less notices are issued within the required timescales.
• Identify and manage commercial risks, advising project teams on contractual matters.
• Prepare and present monthly Cost Value Reconciliation reports.
• Maintain effective relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal teams.
• Coordinate commercial workloads and monitor progress against deadlines.
• Support the management of the commercial team, supervising and mentoring Quantity Surveyors.
• Work closely with operational teams to maintain effective cost control throughout project delivery.

Candidate requirements

• A degree in Quantity Surveying or a relevant discipline.
• Three to five years'' experience within the construction industry.
• Good working knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts.
• Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
• Excellent communication, organisation and time-management skills.
• Strong numerical, IT and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.
• Flexibility to travel to project sites as required.
